Colt 1911 World War I Commemorative – Meuse Argonne Edition, .45 ACP
This is a Colt World War I Commemorative 1911 – Meuse Argonne Edition, chambered in .45 ACP, and manufactured in 1978 as part of a limited four-pistol commemorative series honoring key U.S. engagements in World War I. This edition commemorates the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, the largest and deadliest operation of WWI for American forces, symbolizing the final push toward Allied victory. The left side of the slide depicts a battle scene, and the right side has a lightly engraved banner where "1917 World War I Commemorative 1967" is proudly displayed.
Faithful to the original M1911 design, this single-action, semi-automatic pistol features a 5" barrel, high-polish blued finish, and a set of beautiful walnut grips with commemorative medallions.
The left grip panel displays a WWI-era American eagle medallion marked “1917 * 1978 WORLD WAR”, with a plate beneath reading “MEUSE ARGONNE.”
The right grip panel features a raised medallion of a WWI soldier holding a rifle, surrounded by the names of countries involved in the war: See pictures for list.
This pistol is serial number 1068-MA and remains in excellent condition. While it does not include the original display case or paperwork, it remains a historically significant and collectible tribute to American service in World War I.
