Heckler & Koch P7 M10 .40 S&W Pistol - West German Made “Squeeze-Cocker”

– New in Box – Early Production West German Example – Serial Number 021-588

Overview

Offered here is an exceptionally scarce and highly collectible Heckler & Koch P7 M10 chambered in .40 S&W, serial number 021-588. This is an early-production West German manufactured example retaining its original numbered factory box, matching serial numbered pistol, factory manual, warranty card, and two magazines.

The P7 M10 represents one of the rarest and most substantial variants of the legendary HK P7 family. Developed specifically around the then-new .40 S&W cartridge, the M10 required significant engineering changes over the standard P7 M8 platform, including a larger reinforced frame, heavier slide, and modified gas-delayed blowback system. Production numbers were extremely limited compared to the standard 9mm P7 variants, making original boxed examples increasingly difficult to locate.

This particular pistol remains in outstanding collector condition and presents as a carefully preserved example showing no evidence of use. The original factory finish remains sharp throughout, and the pistol includes an especially desirable complete factory package with matching numbered cardboard box and original paperwork.

Notably, this pistol falls within the very early production range of the P7 M10 series. The “KC” date code corresponds to 1992 production, aligning with the initial commercial production period for the model. Early low-number P7 M10 pistols have become especially sought after among advanced HK collectors due to their limited production totals and historical significance within the P7 lineage.

The P7 series remains one of the most innovative combat pistol designs ever produced, utilizing HK’s unique squeeze-cocking system paired with a gas-delayed blowback operating mechanism. Originally developed following the 1972 Munich Olympics tragedy, the P7 family earned a reputation for exceptional mechanical accuracy, safety, and reliability. Today, discontinued P7 variants—particularly the uncommon M10—have become cornerstone collector pistols within the HK market.

Historical Significance

The P7 M10 was HK’s answer to the rapidly growing .40 S&W law enforcement market of the early 1990s. Unlike many manufacturers who simply rechambered existing 9mm pistols, HK substantially redesigned the P7 platform to safely accommodate the increased pressures of the .40 S&W cartridge.

The result was a noticeably larger and heavier pistol than the P7 M8, but one that retained the hallmark characteristics that made the P7 series famous: superb fixed-barrel accuracy, exceptional safety features, and unmatched mechanical precision.

Because of the pistol’s weight, manufacturing cost, and limited commercial demand, production totals for the P7 M10 remained extremely low compared to other P7 variants. Today, original examples—particularly complete boxed pistols with matching accessories—are increasingly difficult to obtain and are considered among the most desirable modern HK collector pieces.
