This is a recently acquired, special piece. It belonged to author Bill Falin who is known for his work related to long-range shooting and historical accuracy. He has contributed to the exploration of Billy Dixon’s famous long shot during the Battle of Adobe Walls in 1874.

In 1995, Bill Falin and another individual began discussing the feasibility of Billy Dixon’s remarkable shot at a distance of 7/8 mile. Then, in 2020, Bill Falin and his friend Jesse Feldman achieved six hits out of eleven shots on the Official Friends of Billy Dixon Target. They accomplished this using a borrowed 1874 Sharps rifle, similar to the one Dixon used for his iconic long shot.

Additionally, Bill Falin has authored a collection of short stories titled “Replicating Billy Dixon’s Long Shot, 1995-2020: The Battle of Adobe Walls”. This book delves into shooting and hunting experiences, exploring the accuracy limits of antique and modern guns and ammunition. It also intertwines poignant family history with captivating accounts of hunts and shooting adventures.

This particular rifle just happens to be the one used to re-create Billy Dixon's long shot. Inside a manilla envelope addressed to Bill Falin from C. Sharps Arms Co, Inc. you will find a plethora of information, including the introduction manual, The American Sharp Shooters 2007 Edition Magazine, Posters, Break-in procedure, Midrange and Long-Range Elevation and Windage Guide, etc. This is truly a great find and will make an excellent addition to any collection. It's in like new condition and has been possibly unfired since Official Friends of Billy Dixon Target was shot. It also comes with brass, dies and reloading tools.
