This is a recently acquired, customized Colt Government Model .45 ACP, part of the MK IV Series ’70 line produced from 1970–1983. S erial 70G74256, places it in the 1974-1975 production run. It has markings indicative of being an Armand Swenson build.
The Late Armand Swenson (1916-1996) was a visionary SoCal gunsmith best known for revolutionizing the Government model 1911 into a reliable, combat-ready sidearm. His patented ambidextrous safety, stippling, custom trigger guards, and bo-mar sight installations set the template for modern 1911 customization—a legacy that endures in virtually every high-end custom build today.
