Marlin Model 1894 Cowboy Limited .44-40 Winchester 24" Octagon Barrel

Marlin Model 1894 Cowboy Limited .44-40 Winchester 24" Octagon Barrel – 1997

Early Production | 24" Octagonal Barrel | Checkered Walnut | Blued Finish | Excellent Condition

OVERVIEW

Offered here is a Marlin Model 1894 Cowboy Limited chambered in .44-40 Winchester, featuring a full-length 24-inch octagonal barrel, traditional lever-action design, and beautifully checkered walnut furniture.

Dating to approximately 1997, this early-production Cowboy Limited reflects Marlin's revival of classic Western-style lever-action rifles. The .44-40 Winchester chambering is particularly noteworthy, having been offered in the Cowboy series for only a relatively brief period during the late 1990s.

The rifle features a blued receiver and barrel, full-length tubular magazine, adjustable rear sight, straight-grip walnut stock, and matching checkered forearm. Its traditional proportions and long octagonal barrel capture the appearance of historic Marlin sporting rifles while incorporating the features of the modern Model 1894 action.

The early Cowboy Limited models are especially appealing to collectors and enthusiasts of classic Marlin lever actions, particularly examples retaining their attractive checkered walnut stocks.

CONDITION

This Marlin Model 1894 Cowboy Limited is in excellent overall condition, retaining an attractive blued finish and handsome checkered walnut furniture.

The rifle presents very well, with clean lines, nicely preserved wood, and the distinctive appearance of its 24-inch octagonal barrel. Minor handling or storage marks may be present, consistent with its age.

A partial, illegible stamp is present in the barrel proof-mark area. Its appearance suggests it may be a JM proof mark, commonly associated with Marlin's original manufacturing operations; however, the marking is not sufficiently legible to confirm this identification.

No original factory box or paperwork is included.
