Marlin Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine .25-20 WCF – 18" Barrel – Circa 1907
18" Round Barrel | Saddle Ring | Full-Length Magazine | Tang Peep Sight | Serial No. 366587
OVERVIEW
Offered here is an early Marlin Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine chambered in .25-20 WCF, serial number 366587, featuring a scarce and highly attractive 18-inch round barrel configuration.
Introduced in the 1890s, the Marlin Model 1894 became one of the company's classic small-frame lever actions and was offered in several popular pistol-length cartridges of the period, including the .25-20 WCF. Its compact receiver, smooth lever action and side-ejecting design made it a practical sporting arm and helped establish a pattern that remains closely associated with Marlin lever rifles today.
Serial number 366587 falls just beyond the surviving Marlin factory-ledger records, which extend through approximately serial number 355,504 and the year 1906. Based on its serial range, this carbine is believed to date to approximately 1907.
This example is especially appealing with its 18" round barrel, saddle ring, full-length tubular magazine and carbine-style furniture. It is also equipped with a period-style tang-mounted aperture sight, giving the rifle a particularly classic turn-of-the-century sporting appearance.

CONDITION
This Marlin remains in good overall condition for its age, showing the honest wear expected on a working carbine approaching 120 years old.
The metal has transitioned largely to an attractive gray and brown patina with scattered oxidation, spotting and finish loss. The receiver, barrel, magazine tube and hardware show normal age-related wear throughout.
The walnut stock and forearm remain attractive with scattered handling marks and age-related wear. The steel buttplate shows worn color casing.
Markings, including the .25-20 caliber marking and serial number 366587, remain readily visible.
The tang aperture sight adds considerably to the period appearance of the rifle.
