The Model 686, also known as the Distinguished Combat Magnum, is Smith & Wesson’s stainless-steel L-frame .357 Magnum revolver. Designed to combine the strength needed for magnum use with the balance and handling of a service revolver, the 686 became one of Smith & Wesson’s most respected modern double-action revolvers.

This example features a 4" barrel with full underlug, stainless finish, adjustable sights, and magna checkered wood grips with Smith & Wesson medallions.

This is a pre-lock Smith & Wesson revolver, predating the later internal-lock era. The 686-3 variation is generally associated with late-1980s to early-1990s production.
