This revolver, serial number K142089, was manufactured circa early 1952, placing it in the desirable pre-model number era before Smith & Wesson began assigning model numbers in 1957. When model designations were introduced, the K-22 Target Masterpiece became known as the Model 17, one of the most iconic rimfire target revolvers Smith & Wesson ever produced.
