Pre-Lock Smith & Wesson Model 19-4 Combat Magnum .357 Magnum with Box
Smith & Wesson Model 19-4 Combat Magnum .357 Magnum
6" Pinned Barrel | Recessed Cylinder | Factory Nickel Finish | Boxed
OVERVIEW
Offered here is a handsome Smith & Wesson Model 19-4 Combat Magnum chambered in .357 Magnum, serial number 56K2143. Collector serial references place this revolver in approximately 1979 production, though a factory letter would be required to confirm its exact shipping date.
Developed from Smith & Wesson’s celebrated K-Frame Combat Magnum design, the Model 19 combined .357 Magnum capability with the balance and handling of the company’s medium-size frame. This desirable example features a 6-inch pinned barrel, recessed cylinder chambers, adjustable sights, factory-style checkered walnut target stocks, and a bright nickel finish.
The Model 19-4 is especially appealing to collectors as the final engineering variation produced with the traditional pinned-and-recessed configuration. The later Model 19-5 eliminated both the barrel pin and recessed chambers in 1982.
This revolver is accompanied by the fitted cardboard presentation box and assorted Smith & Wesson literature and accessories shown in the photographs.

The 6-inch barrel was introduced as a standard Model 19 configuration during the early 1960s, and nickel-finished examples were produced alongside the more common blued revolvers. The combination of the bright finish, target-style stocks, and pinned-and-recessed construction gives this example strong visual and collector appeal.
CONDITION
This revolver remains in great overall condition. The nickel finish presents very well, with light handling and use marks visible under close inspection. A very slight cylinder turn line is present. The walnut stocks remain attractive with crisp checkering and only minor signs of handling.
The included cardboard box shows typical age and storage wear.
