Pre-War Winchester Model 61 .22 WRF 24" Octagon Barrel –Pump Action

1939 Manufacture | Pre-War Production | 24" Octagon Barrel | .22 WRF | Walnut Furniture | Great Vintage Condition

OVERVIEW

Offered here is a 1939 Winchester Model 61 chambered in .22 Winchester Rim Fire (.22 WRF), featuring a desirable 24-inch octagon barrel, traditional walnut furniture, and Winchester's classic hammerless slide-action design.

Introduced in 1932, the Model 61 represented an important development in Winchester's rimfire rifle lineup. Its streamlined, hammerless receiver, smooth pump-action operation, and tubular magazine offered a more modern alternative to earlier exposed-hammer slide-action designs.

This example dates to 1939, placing it among Winchester's pre-World War II production rifles. It features the distinctive octagon barrel configuration, a grooved walnut slide handle, traditional walnut buttstock, blued steel construction, and barrel-mounted iron sights.

The rifle is chambered specifically for .22 WRF, a historic rimfire cartridge introduced by Winchester in 1890. This chambering, combined with the octagon barrel and early production date, makes for an especially appealing example of Winchester's classic slide-action craftsmanship.

With its handsome walnut furniture, attractive vintage metal finish, and well-preserved overall appearance, this Model 61 offers the character and history that make early Winchester rimfire rifles so collectible.

This 1939 Winchester Model 61 is in great overall condition for its age, displaying the honest character and preservation expected of a carefully used prewar sporting rifle.

The factory original walnut buttstock and grooved forearm exhibit an appealing warm finish, with scattered handling marks, minor scratches, and normal signs of use. The wood presents nicely overall and complements the rifle's traditional prewar styling.

The rifle retains its desirable 24-inch octagon barrel configuration, traditional iron sights, and classic hammerless pump-action design.

Overall, this is an attractive and well-preserved example of an early Winchester Model 61, offering a desirable combination of prewar manufacture, octagon-barrel styling, and the historic .22 WRF chambering.

Please review all photographs closely for the best representation of the rifle's condition, finish wear, scattered peppering, wood furniture, and features.
