Remington Model 870 Express Magnum 20 Gauge 3" – 28" Barrel | Circa 1992

Early 1990s Production | Lightweight 20-Gauge Magnum | Pump Action | Cylinder Choke | Checkered Wood Stock & Forearm | January 1992 Barrel Date Code

OVERVIEW

Offered here is a classic Remington Model 870 Express Magnum chambered in 20 gauge for 2¾-inch or 3-inch shells, featuring a 28-inch barrel, installed Cylinder choke tube, traditional matte-finished metalwork, attractive checkered wood stock and forearm, and Remington's proven pump-action design.

First introduced in 1950, the Remington Model 870 became one of America's most recognizable and successful pump-action shotguns, earning a reputation for rugged construction, reliability, and versatility. The more economical Express line was introduced in 1987, offering the same basic 870 action with a subdued matte finish and traditional hardwood furniture.

This particular shotgun, serial number A323273U, is consistent with early-1990s production and features the lightweight 20-gauge Magnum configuration. The U serial-number suffix identifies the smaller-frame 20-gauge Magnum receiver.

The barrel bears the BM date code, corresponding to January 1992, along with the traditional R.E.P. Remington proof marking and additional markings, including "1H" and a triangle-enclosed "E."

The 1992 barrel date aligns with the period shortly after Remington expanded its Express lineup in 1991 to include the Small Gauge series, making this an appealing example of the early lightweight Express Magnum configuration.

CONDITION

This shotgun is in great overall condition for its age, retaining an attractive appearance with traditional checkered wood furniture.

The stock and forearm exhibit minor cosmetic handling marks and light areas of finish wear consistent with age and normal sporting use. There is also a localized gouge in the wood on the left side of the forearm near the receiver, as shown in the photos.

These cosmetic imperfections are consistent with the shotgun's age and previous use and do not detract from its overall classic appearance.

Please review all photos carefully for exact condition and configuration.
