Ruger Mark I Target Pistol .22 LR with Box and Shipper
RUGER MARK I TARGET PISTOL .22 LR
6 7/8" BARREL | ORIGINAL BOX & OUTER SHIPPING CARTON | SERIAL NUMBER 1769031
OVERVIEW
Offered here is a beautifully preserved Ruger Mark I Target Pistol chambered in .22 Long Rifle, accompanied by its original factory box and matching outer shipping carton.
Introduced in 1949 as Ruger's first firearm, the Standard Model and subsequent Mark I series established the foundation upon which Sturm, Ruger & Co. built its reputation. The Mark I Target models, with their longer barrels and adjustable sights, quickly became favorites among target shooters, outdoorsmen, and collectors alike.
This example features the desirable 6 7/8-inch target barrel configuration and remains in exceptional overall condition. Even more importantly for collectors, it retains both the original yellow and black factory box and the original cardboard shipping sleeve marked for the Target Pistol configuration.
Finding a clean Mark I is not particularly difficult. Finding one in near-original condition with factory instruction manual and both the factory box and matching outer carton is becoming increasingly uncommon.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE
The Ruger Mark I series traces its lineage directly to the pistol that launched Sturm, Ruger & Co. in 1949. Inspired by the Japanese Nambu pistol and refined into a practical American sporting arm, Bill Ruger's design proved remarkably successful.
The Target models expanded the appeal of the platform by providing a longer sight radius and improved target sights, making them equally at home on the range, in the field, or in competition.
Today, early Ruger rimfires remain among the most collected post-war American firearms, with boxed examples commanding a significant premium over comparable pistols lacking original packaging.
CONDITION
This pistol remains in excellent, like-new condition.
The metal finish presents exceptionally well with strong original blue throughout. The pistol shows no evidence of use and retains outstanding overall appearance. Markings remain sharp and fully legible.
The included factory box remains solid and attractive, while the original outer shipping carton survives as well—an increasingly scarce accessory that is often discarded shortly after purchase.
Overall, this is the type of complete collector package that is becoming increasingly difficult to locate, particularly with both factory boxes still accompanying the firearm.
