Ruger Old Army Cap & Ball Percussion Revolver – 7.5" Barrel – Black Powder – 1981

Overview

The Ruger Old Army is widely considered one of the strongest and most precisely built cap-and-ball revolvers ever produced. Unlike many traditional percussion revolvers patterned after 19th-century designs, the Old Army was engineered with Ruger’s modern metallurgy and manufacturing standards, resulting in exceptional durability, accuracy, and longevity.

This example dates to 1981 and features the desirable 7.5" barrel, smooth wood grips with Ruger medallions, and includes a handmade Ruger-marked leather holster by Bianchi , correctly fitted for the 7-1/2" Old Army.

The revolver takes “457 ball”, which refers to the recommended round ball diameter. Ruger serial number records confirm this revolver is chambered for .45 caliber black powder percussion only, not metallic cartridges.
