Introduced in 1993, the original Ruger Vaquero was designed to capture the traditional appearance of the Old West single-action revolver while incorporating Ruger's rugged construction and modern transfer-bar safety system. This example, model 00540, serial number 55-55254, dates to approximately 1995 and represents the original, larger-frame Vaquero design produced before the introduction of the later New Vaquero.

CONDITION

This Ruger Vaquero remains in great overall condition, displaying an attractive combination of color case-finished receiver, blued barrel and cylinder, and smooth walnut grips.

The receiver retains appealing case-color patterns, with contrasting tones that complement the revolver's traditional appearance. The barrel and cylinder present very nicely, with strong remaining bluing and only minor signs of previous handling. The ejector rod housing has a few notable handling marks as pictured.

The walnut grips are in very nice condition, displaying warm natural wood grain and retaining their Ruger medallions.

Overall, this revolver shows the appearance of a well-cared-for example, with minimal cosmetic wear visible.
