Smith & Wesson Model 19-3 Texas Rangers 150th Anniversary Commemorative .357 Magnum – 1973

Excellent Condition | 4" Barrel | 1823–1973 Commemorative | Presentation Case & Factory Boxes | Serial No. TR4803

OVERVIEW

Offered here is a beautifully preserved Smith & Wesson Model 19-3 Texas Rangers 150th Anniversary Commemorative, chambered in .357 Magnum, serial number TR4803, presented in excellent condition with its wooden display case, serial-numbered blue Smith & Wesson factory box, and outer cardboard box.

Introduced in 1973 to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Texas Rangers (1823–1973), this special edition holds a significant place in Smith & Wesson history as the company's first commemorative revolver series. Production was limited to 10,000 examples, each bearing a distinctive TR-prefix serial number.

Built on the classic K-frame Model 19-3, the commemorative features a 4" barrel, polished blue finish, gold-filled Texas Rangers barrel markings, and the distinctive Texas Ranger Commemorative Commission seal on the sideplate, dated 1823–1973.

Additional features unique to this commemorative include its smooth presentation-style walnut target stocks, special trigger guard contour, color cased smooth combat-style trigger, and target hammer.

This example remains in excellent overall condition, retaining its attractive blue finish, contrasting case-colored hammer and trigger, and beautifully preserved commemorative details.

Of particular interest is the accompanying presentation packaging. The revolver rests in its fitted wooden display case with rich royal-blue velvet lining, while the original-style blue Smith & Wesson factory box retains its handwritten identification label matching serial number TR4803. The outer cardboard box has also been preserved.

For the Smith & Wesson or Texas Rangers collector, this is a handsome example of an important early commemorative, made more appealing by its condition and surviving presentation materials.

This revolver presents in near new in box condition with a very faint cylinder ring.

Please review all photographs closely for the best representation of the revolver and accompanying presentation materials.

COLLECTOR NOTES

The 1973 Texas Rangers Commemorative marked the beginning of Smith & Wesson's commemorative revolver program and remains one of its most recognizable early editions.

Beyond its special markings, the revolver incorporates several features distinguishing it from a standard production Model 19-3, including its modified trigger guard, smooth trigger, commemorative stocks, and gold-filled markings.

The original series consisted of 10,000 revolvers numbered TR1 through TR10000, with different presentation configurations offered, including versions accompanied by a commemorative Bowie knife. This example is offered with the revolver and packaging shown; a commemorative knife is not represented as included.

With its excellent condition, distinctive Texas heritage, and surviving presentation packaging, serial number TR4803 represents an appealing piece of both Smith & Wesson and Texas Rangers commemorative history.
