The Model 745 was developed as a competition-oriented, single-action version of Smith & Wesson’s second-generation .45-caliber semi-automatic platform. Introduced during the late 1980s, it combined a stainless-steel frame, blued carbon-steel slide, 5"-barrel, checkered walnut stocks, enlarged competition-style controls, and a single-action trigger system aimed at IPSC-style competition shooting.
