OVERVIEW

Offered here is a Smith & Wesson Performance Center Model 952-1 chambered in 9mm, serial number KNZ1546, presented in what appears to be new-in-box condition with its Performance Center aluminum presentation case, three factory magazines, factory paperwork, registration card, safety literature, and accompanying accessories.

The Model 952 was introduced by Smith & Wesson’s Performance Center as a premium target-oriented 9mm pistol and is widely regarded as the spiritual successor to the legendary Model 52. The 952 retained the single-stack, single-action format and precision-oriented design philosophy but moved to the much more readily available 9mm cartridge. The 952-1 represents an early-generation variation and is distinguished from the original 952 by the addition of a grip-activated firing-pin safety system.

This example features the desirable 5-inch blued carbon-steel configuration, checkered wood grips with S&W logo, distinctive Performance Center slide markings and machining, adjustable Wilson Combat rear sight, and a finely tuned single-action trigger.

The early blued Performance Center Model 952 series was produced in limited numbers. Smith & Wesson factory-letter information cited by collectors indicates approximately 1,735 blued Model 952-family pistols were produced across the original 952 and 952-1 variations, making these early hand-fitted examples notably uncommon today.

The blued finish, controls, slide, trigger, and magazines all present exceptionally well with little to no evidence of use or handling. The checkered wood grips are beautiful with a notable handling mark on the right grip panel. The presentation case and factory literature have also been very well preserved.
