Serial number 299326 places this pistol in circa 1987 production, during the mature years of original (G1) Contender manufacture. The Contender platform, introduced in 1967, quickly became one of the most respected interchangeable-barrel hunting handguns ever produced thanks to its strength, accuracy, and modular caliber flexibility.

Chambered in .22 Hornet, this configuration is especially desirable among handgun hunters and silhouette shooters for its excellent accuracy, mild recoil, and strong performance on varmints and small-game applications.
