Weatherby Mark V 7mm Magnum 24" Bolt Action Rifle – Left-Handed – Circa 1960 German Production
Weatherby Mark V 7mm Magnum 24" – Left-Handed | Circa 1960 German Production
Early J.P. Sauer & Sohn Production | Left-Handed Bolt Action | Two-Tone Checkered Wood Stock | Scope Rings | Leather Sling
OVERVIEW
Offered here is a classic Weatherby Mark V rifle in 7mm Magnum, featuring a 24-inch barrel, genuine left-handed bolt action, beautiful two-tone checkered wood stock with contrasting wood accents, installed scope rings, and an attached leather sling.
Dating to circa 1960, this rifle represents the early years of Weatherby's legendary Mark V production. Introduced in 1958 under the direction of Roy Weatherby, the Mark V became known for its exceptionally strong nine-lug bolt action, short bolt lift, and distinctive design. Production transitioned to J.P. Sauer & Sohn in West Germany in 1959, beginning an important chapter in Weatherby's manufacturing history.
This particular rifle, serial number 27270, falls within the documented 1960 West German production range. Its true left-handed configuration is especially appealing, reflecting Weatherby's early commitment to offering dedicated left-handed bolt-action rifles rather than simply adapting right-handed designs.
The attractive two-tone checkered wood stock, with its contrasting darker wood accents, complements the rifle's traditional blued metalwork and classic Weatherby styling. The receiver displays a distinctive partial plum-toned patina, lending character to this vintage rifle. Installed scope rings and an attached leather sling complete the configuration.
An appealing early-production Weatherby Mark V, combining German manufacturing history, traditional sporting rifle craftsmanship, and desirable left-handed operation.
